So, once you have taken a look at the immigration entry requirements for France, you can start planning your big move.
According to the government you may travel to any country within the Schengen area (which includes France) for up to 90 days in any 180 days period without a visa. If you are staying longer, then you will need to get in touch with the French government to apply for a visa. Please note that if you stay in France with a residence permit or long-stay visa, this does not count towards your 90-day visa-free limit.
Your passport validity is also important. In order to move to France your passport must be issued less than 10 years before the date you enter the country (check the ‘date of issue’) and valid for at least 3 months after the day you plan to leave (check the ‘expiry date’).
